I've often heard that 1,000 years on earth is equal to 1 day in heaven.
2 Peter 3:8 - "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."
I have a couple of different ways I take this verse.
- This could literally mean that 1,000 years on earth is 1 day in heaven. Which would mean that when Jesus turns to His Father and says "Hey dad, I'm going to go ahead and go back to earth to retrieve my followers" (note* - he did not actually say that, I'm using this for conversation sake), that the few seconds it takes Him to turn around... a few years have passed on earth. He could be on His way out the door right now but yet still take several more years for us. I'm not saying all this litterally... just a thought.
- Maybe this verse is stating that there is no time frame in heaven. Time does not exist. 1000 years on earth is equal to 1 day in heaven and/or vice versa, ultimately expressing the point of no timeline (which is hard to grasp with the human mind).
What do you think?
Oh yeah, when God created the earth in 6 days... was it heaven days or earth days. Maybe it took 6,000 years. Just something else to boggle in the brain. Lemme know what you think.
